Another History Repeat?

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

The past is something that we can not go back and change; we can’t change the past, right? I am going to say no, however, we can learn from our mistakes. Yes, I would like to agree with that saying however, who can tell me how often you have stopped, and took the time to think, “that didn’t work before, what can I do different now?” Not too many, including myself.

History has repeated itself over and over again, yet, we have all failed to learn from it. The problem, we think we are doing something different, but somehow we just accidently end up with the same results. Now how can that happen and what am I talking about?
For those of you that don’t know, April 12th, marked the 65th Anniversary of Franklin Delano Roosevelt death. Are you lost with my referencing? Well, Franklin D. Roosevelt, as everyone knows he was the 32nd president and went thru the “depression.” A much worse economic crisis than what we are currently experiencing now. No matter how long ago we had the “Great Depression,” or the “New Deal,” or the “Dust Bowl”…all the memorable moments from the 1930s, we are going through it again. To keep this brief and simple for those that don’t want a refreshment in History class I am going to sum it all up and tell you the similarities, just a few:
Shortening school days
• Cutting school budgets
• Poor are getting poorer-hit the hardest
• We are at war, again
Inflation (Pretty soon we’ll end up with a $500 bill.)
• Another health care reform
• Unemployment at yet another all time high
With just a few of those examples…why are we having such a crisis over this economic downturn? Maybe…nobody knows how to respond to the crisis. We all must think positive and stick together to help make it thru this hard time.
Give me your opinion and let me hear what you have to say about this crisis.
